Read
7While Jesus was here on earth, he offered prayers and pleadings, with a loud cry and tears, to the one who could deliver him out of death. And God heard his prayers because of his reverence for God. 8So even though Jesus was God’s Son, he learned obedience from the things he suffered. 9In this way, God qualified him as a perfect High Priest, and he became the source of eternal salvation for all those who obey him. 10And God designated him to be a High Priest in the line of Melchizedek.
Reflect
In order to represent man to God, a priest must be human. In fact, to be humane, he must be human. While Jesus was here on earth, he was all man. Through His suffering, he learned obedience to the Father. In that way, He was perfectly fit to become our High Priest.
Respond
Why is it important that Jesus was human?
Could an angel represent man to God? Why or why not?
If Jesus is God, how can He represent man to God?
