Kingdom Come - Week 1 Wednesday

Filed under: Daily, Kingdom Come — David Petersen @ 4:57 am

Take a few minutes today to read Matthew 3:1-17.

For Reflection:

  1. What was John the Baptist’s message, the summary of his preaching?
  2. What is the difference between the method by which John baptized and the method by which he said Jesus would baptize?
  3. The significance of Jesus’ water baptism was to indicate he was consecrated to God and approved by Him prior to beginning His ministry. Have you been baptized in water? If not, are you ready to do so?

Prayer Starters:

PPraise: Lord, You are the Son of God! You are the prophesied Messiah who is righteous and true.

RRepent: I confess that I am sinful, unworthy to untie or even carry your sandals.

AAsk: Baptize me with Your Holy Spirit and with fire. Cleanse and purify me.

YYield: Reveal to me how I can be pleasing to You.

Have A Great Day!

Kingdom Come - Week 1 Tuesday

Filed under: Daily, Kingdom Come — David Petersen @ 6:51 am

Take a few minutes today to read Matthew 2:1-23.

For Reflection:

  1. The birth of Jesus, God’s Son, brought out Satan’s fury. The devil used an evil king for evil purposes in an attempt to destroy God’s plan.
  2. What method did God use to speak to the Magi and to Joseph?
  3. Have you ever heard from the Lord? If so, how did you hear Him speak to you?

Prayer Starters:

PPraise: Lord, you are sovereign. Your plans can never be destroyed. You endure forever and are faithful to Your people.

RRepent : Forgive me for not being attentive to your voice and following the paths of evil.

AAsk: Please speak to me this week, and help me know and hear Your voice.

YYield: I am listening. Lead me and I will follow.

Have A Great Day!

Kingdom Come-Week 1 Monday

Filed under: Daily, Kingdom Come — David Petersen @ 6:20 am

Take a few minutes today to read Matthew 1:1-25

For Reflection:

  1. Matthew begins his gospel with a vivid reminder that Jesus, the Son of God, came to earth as a man. He offers painstaking details of Jesus’ genealogy and birth.
  2. How many names in the genealogy of Jesus do you recognize?
  3. What range of emotions do you think Joseph felt when Mary was found to be with child, and when he was confronted by the angel?

Prayer Starters:

PPraise: Lord, thank you for sending your Son Jesus into the world, and for such a masterful description of His birth.

RRepent: Forgive me for the times I’ve questioned Your actions and ignored Your will.

AAsk: Help me be like Joseph, who willingly obeyed You, even in the face of potential humiliation.

YYield: What do You have for me to do. I’m Yours, and I’m willing.

Enjoy Your Day!

TV Guide Part 6: Grace’s Funniest Videos

Filed under: Podcast, TV Guide — Bart Wilkins @ 3:37 pm

AFVAmerica’s Funniest Videos is quick to make us laugh. We watch people falling down, wiping out, stumbling in and messing up. It’s a great escape from the pressures of life, and somehow laughing at others makes it a bit easier to laugh at ourselves.

But, is a simple show like AFV enough to help us deal with the stress and anxiety we face? Is there more we can do to overcome the things that steal our joy and rob us of laughter?

Today, our Lead Pastor, Bart Wilkins tells us that God gave us an incredibly effective 4-step plan to help us find hope and joy for our lives and, if we put these steps into practice, God will bring the joy and laughter back into our lives.

TV Guide Part 5: Superbowl

Filed under: Podcast, TV Guide — Bart Wilkins @ 3:40 pm

Superbowl XLIWe watch action/adventure shows on TV because we are often not willing to pay the price to experience it for ourselves. We’re afraid of what it might cost us. We’re afraid we might fail. We’re afraid we’ll get in over our heads. So, we sit on our couch and watch others have all of the fun.

This week, our lead Pastor, Bart Wilkins, uses the Superbowl to show us that if we are willing to step out in faith and engage ourselves in a life of passionately following Christ, we will experience the most exciting, adventurous lifestyle humanity has ever known.
