Paul introduces us to his central theme for the first seven chapters of 2 Corinthians, “the God of all comfort.” The word comfort is of the same origin that Jesus calls the Holy Spirit, the Paraclete (John 14:16). There are times when we face suffering, persecution, and afflictions but Jesus sent us the Holy Spirit to comfort us.
