2 Cor: Love and Forgiveness

Today’s passage is 2 Corinthians 1:8-2:11.  Join us in reading it.

Paul is faced with a problem. Some in Corinth are claiming that Paul is fickle and untrustworthy. Paul’s apostolic authority is under question. Paul had promised a visit to Corinth that he canceled. Instead, he wrote a letter that was rather severe and did cause some anguish. Paul says that he canceled his trip so as not to cause even more sorrow. Thus, he wasn’t fickle, rather being sensitive to their feelings so as not to “lord it over” them. He was confident that they would do the right thing.
