Ezekiel was a prophet who lived and prophesied in the late seventh and early sixth century BC, immediately proceeding Jerusalem’s destruction by the Babylonian king Nebuchadnezzar. He was most likely taken from Jerusalem and into exile in Babylon along with King Jehoiachin in 597 BC. The specific prophecy we read in chapter ten of Ezekiel is dated to 592 BC (Ezekiel 8:1) and was written from Babylon to those who remained in Jerusalem.
